Michigan is the team of destiny! There is no denying it now. Derrick Walton Jr, Moritz Wagner and DJ Wilson shined for the Wolverines as they knocked off a dangerous Donovan Mitchell-led Cardinal squad. Michigan didn't have the best game offensively, but they showed their versatility made just enough shots to win. They are the most dangerous team in the tournament.
(2) Kentucky/ (10) Wichita State
Kentucky proved that they can win while being shut down on offense. I think we all know that this matchup shouldn't have happened this early, but it did, and the Shockers got the worst of it. It wasn't all bad for them though; Landry Shamet proved he's the next face of the program, and Markis McDuffie will still be around as well. This is only the beginning of a new Shocker era.
(1) Kansas/ (9) Michigan State
It was close early, but Kansas ended up pounding the Spartans by 20. Izzo's Boys gave it all they had, but the talent and experience of Kansas was too much to handle.
(1) North Carolina/ (8) Arkansas
North Carolina should have lost, and the ACC shouldn't have a team in the Sweet 16. But, Arkansas squandered a 5-point lead with 3 and a half to play, and the Tar Heels survived. They can't play like that if they want to beat Butler next week.
(3) Oregon/ (11) Rhode Island
This was another heartbreaker. Rhode Island was up by 3 with about a minute to go, and they gave up an offensive rebound, and Tyler Dorsey buried the game-tying triple. Oregon didn't look back from that point and they got to the Sweet 16 despite losing Chris Boucher before the tournament. They have a tough game against Michigan to get to the Elite Eight.
(3) Baylor/ (11) USC
USC fought back vigorously to take a late lead against Baylor, but couldn't hold it as Baylor got to the Sweet 16. Manu Lecomte played out of his mind and hit a clutch 4-point play to give the Bears the lead once and for all. In this wide open East region, the Bears are now the favorite to get to the Final Four.
(2) Duke/ (7) South Carolina
Wow. Just wow. In case you didn't hear, Duke lost after allowing South Carolina to have the best half in school history yesterday. The Gamecocks couldn't miss, and Duke ended this disappointing season in a disappointing way.
(3) UCLA/ (6) Cincinnati
I didn't catch much of this game because of the crazy Duke one, but it pretty much was a close game on the first half, and then Lonzo Ball and Company woke up and beat Cincinnati by double digits.
