Spoke Too Soon, Duke Still Blows
Just when I say Duke is back, they go and give an uninspiring performance at home in a loss to NC State. I don't even know what to think of this team anymore. They looked great against Miami and in the first half tonight, but the second half was just pitiful. Duke had complete control of the game, then they just decided to stop trying. NC State's Dennis Smith Jr took advantage of this and dropped 32 points against them. There's no other way to put it. Duke's minds are somewhere else right now, and it's showing. Grayson Allen looks more concerned with staying out of trouble than actually playing, and Harry Giles looks afraid to injure himself. Because of this, Duke doesn't focus as a whole. I don't know what it will take for Jeff Capel to realize that Grayson Allen isn't a point guard. I think it's time for Duke to start Frank Jackson at point, with Luke Kennard, Jayson Tatum, Amile Jefferson and Harry Giles starting. They had a similar lineup to start tonight, and they won the first half. People are wondering why Allen is struggling so much and it's because he's not comfortable where he's playing. Bring him off the bench as a shooting guard and you will be pleasantly surprised. Whatever the solution is, Duke needs to figure it out quickly because this team is too talented to go down early in March.
